What is the purpose of it?
To provide employees with the hardware required to perform their work.
Existing hardware is replaced according to its designated life cycle. Additional hardware for net-new positions may be requested as needed.
This form must not be used to request equipment for student spaces or for direct use by students.
Who can get the equipment?
All regular staff and faculty are eligible for equipment. Equipment is not provided to contractors. Part-time faculty require additional approvals before equipment is issued to them.
How to request equipment?
Click “Request Equipment” in the top-right corner of this page.
Equipment requests must be submitted by department managers, or by Dean’s assistants/divisional supervisors with the Dean’s approval.
Complete all mandatory fields and provide as much detail as possible. Please note that approvals for non-standard equipment are handled on a case-by-case basis and processing times may vary.
The standard ETA for in-stock equipment is 10 business days. Additional time is required for non-standard or non-stocked equipment.
What can be requested?
As part of the DTS Asset Management Strategy (Phase 1), standard employee equipment was defined and approved by the Senior Leadership Committee (SLC) in 2024. These standards ensure DTS-provided equipment is reliable, supportable, and compliant with security requirements.

- Up to two 24" Dell monitors or one 27" Dell monitor

Note:
- Device models and series are subject to change annually and based on availability.
- Some employee groups or departments may be exempt from the standard package based on a previously approved business case by DTS.
- Any exception to the standards requires a business case and a separate Operational Level Agreement (OLA).
- Macs are no longer broadly supported and are only available to pre-approved departments with an existing business case.
- DTS typically stocks a limited quantity of standard employee equipment. Non-standard equipment is not stocked and is only purchased upon request and approval.
- DTS can support other equipment based on Ergonomic Assessment and needs (eg special monitors, mouse and keyboards). Ergonomic requests need to be initiated by contacting People, Culture and Diversity (PCD) team. For more information on that please see this webpage.
How much does it cost?
The cost of standard hardware is covered by the budget allocated by the University to the DTS department. Non-standard equipment must be funded by the requesting department.
Regardless of who pays for the equipment, DTS is responsible for maintaining equipment standards and ensuring the security compliance of all devices. DTS may change these standards or remove devices if a security risk is identified.
