Applications for Emergency Student Laptop Loans for the Spring 2026 term will be accepted and processed starting January 2, 2026.
An emergency laptop loan is designed for students in urgent need of a laptop due to unforeseen circumstances such as sudden financial emergencies, unexpected damage to their personal computer, etc. Other circumstances are not considered emergencies.
If you do not have a laptop and require it for your studies, here are some of the organizations in the Lower Mainland that provide second-hand laptops at discounted rates:
1) BC Technology for Learning Society (for domestic students)
2) eBOOT Canada (for domestic students)
3) The Hackery
4) CSU Reboot Refurbishment Program
Please note: a small number of laptops are available each term for emergency loan purposes. If approved, the loan is for a maximum of one term.
Please fill out a form to request an extended loan of a laptop from IT services. All requests will be reviewed by the Centre for Student Success and students will be contacted via email should there be availability.
Please provide a description of your emergency for the Centre for Student Success to access your case. The form does not reserve a laptop. Equipment is available based on financial need decision criteria and is subject to availability.
You will receive a confirmation of your submission in the email you provided.
Note: submitting multiple forms doesn’t increase your chances of receiving a laptop loan and extends the time it will take to process applications.
